4th of July Weekend in Texas

Okay, so I know I haven't updated in a month, so I decided now would be the best time since we had a totally amazing weekend in Texas. I made a last minute decision to go and see Scott, since he had five days off for the 4th of July weekend. Nickolas and I packed up the Jeep and drove 19 hours to Wichita Falls, TX. It was actually not that bad of a drive, it went by really fast. I can't say the same about the return trip but we can talk about that later. So we get to Texas and the first thing we did was go to the hotel to sleep. I was tired after driving through the night but of course, Nickolas was ready to play, so mommy did not get a nap. Scott was able to come over that morning for a couple hours to see us before he had to report for a briefing. He showed up in his uniform and Nickolas didn't recognize him at first but once he did, he gave daddy the biggest hug ever!! He was so happy to see Scott. Let me tell you that boy never gets that excited to see me, he really loves his daddy and has missed him.

Thursday and Friday we just kinda hung out and visited with a few of Scott's friends and took Nickolas to the playgrounds. Saturday was our fun day!! We went to a waterslide park there in town, which surprisingly was pretty good for a very small town. We all had a blast since it was really hot outside and the water felt great. Nickolas loved the slides and got really brave and went down the big ones by himself. Once he went down by himself and realized how fun it was, he would not let Scott or I go with him anymore. I would try but he would turn around to me and say, "NO!! Stay Mommy!!" It was really funny.

After the water slide park we went back to the hotel to get changed. We got dinner and then headed over to the park to watch the firework show. No one knew if the show was going to be canceled since a big storm was moving in. We just had to wait it out and see if they were still going to run the show. Which they did, while it was pouring down rain, high winds and lightning flashing everwhere!! I guess everything is bigger and better in Texas right!? They are crazy!! Some fireworks would have big lightning bolts right behind them in the sky. It was really cool!! Nickolas really liked playing in the rain and watching the fireworks. I guess he didn't get enough water at the waterslide park!

For the rest of the weekend we just hung around. Monday we got together with some of Scott's friends and had a BBQ and played volleyball. That was great fun. I can't wait till we can be together on a base so we can make friends and do that every weekend. The weekend went by too fast but it was so worth it. I can't wait to make another trip.
